Beautiful words of advice from Imam Ibn Al-Qayyim:

“Nothing benefits the heart more than pure intentions, by engaging with people in a gentle manner, wanting the best for them. The person you interact with is either unknown to you, in which case your dealing with that person causes love and affection, or that person is already known to you and someone beloved, in which case your dealing with that person will only preserve and increase that affection, or that person is an enemy who hates you, in which case your gentleness will extinguish the smouldering ember of his hatred and pacify it.

Whoever assumes the best about people, having a good opinion of them, will always find their heart at ease, his intention unweakened with a peaceful mind and his heart will be given a new lease of life and Allāah will save him from evil and difficulties.”
